Clinic

• NP also known as "Hereditary localized pruritus" or "Posterior pigmented pruritic patch" or "subscapular pruritus" is a chronic sensory neuropathy.
• It is a common localized itch, affecting mainly T2–T6 dermatomes
• Pruritus is the characteristic symptom
• It is occasionally accompanied by pain, paresthesia or hyperesthesia, which results in a well circumscribed hyperpigmentation of a skin patches.

Causes

• The correlation of NP localization with corresponding degenerative changes in the spine suggests that spinal nerve impingement may be a contributing cause, but have not yet been completely defined. Patients are usually older persons
