Clinic
- It is a type of erythema involving pink rings on the torso and inner surfaces of the limbs which come and go for as long as several months.
- It is found primarily on extensor surfaces.
- It presents with the rings that barely raised
- It is non-itchy
- Face is generally spared
Associated disease
- 5% of patients with rheumatic fever, but is considered a major Jones criterion along with carditis, polyarthritis, Sydenham's chorea, and subcutaneous nodules.
- Sepsis
- Glomerulonephritis
- Sydenham's chorea
- Rheumatic fever
Note
- It should not be mistaken with Erythema multiforme
- Its good rubric in Radar is: Eruption, Herpetic, circinate: Nat-m, Tub
- Annular erythema is its synonym
Miasms
- Group A streptococcal infection, otherwise known as Streptococcus pyogenes
