HMDs or dyskinesias, refer to a group of excessive, abnormal and involuntary movements. It has five major types including Tremor, Dystonia, Myoclonous, Tic and Chorea, Some authors also define ballism separately or as chorea that affects proximal joints. Other HMDs include athetosis, stereotypies and in the amputee population “jumpy stumps”.
