TSP HAM, Tropical spastic paraparesis HTLV 1 associated myelopathy entities

HTLV-I causes tropical spastic paraparesis, also called TSP/ HAM.
Typical symptoms include
- Leg weakness
- Back pain
- Bladder dysfunction.
- The cardinal finding of TSP/HAM is spasticity
- All affected individuals eventually demonstrate signs of spasticity in the lower limbs. Although the majority of HTLV-1 seropositive persons never seem to develop TSP/HAM [1]
