- Giardiasis is a most common parasitic infection in humans caused by Giardia lamblia.
- A person contracts the infection from taking food and water contaminated with the infected excreta of human or animals. Close contact with person with giardia infection can also lead to transmission of the infection.
- Giardiasis is an intestinal infection. The symptoms include diarrhoea, abdominal cramps, bloating, gas, belching, anorexia, weight loss and weakness.
