Clinic

  • PML is a rare fatal viral disease characterized by Progressive Multi local inflammation of the white matter of brain.
  • It is caused by the JCV, almost exclusively in AIDS. [1]


Signs and symptoms

  • Clumsiness
  • Progressive weakness
  • Visual changes
  • Speech changes
  • Personality changes
  • Psychosis [2]


Related disease

  • Hodgkin's lymphoma
  • Autoimmune diseases (MS, SLE, RA, Psoriasis)
  • Lesions affecting the parietal and occipital lobes of the brain can lead to a phenomenon known as alien hand syndrome
  • HIV-1 infection / acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS)
