Clinic

• Autoimmune adrenalitis is the most common cause of Addison's disease (80- 90%)
• Autoimmune destruction of adrenal cortex caused by an immune reaction against the enzyme 21-hydroxylase
• This may be isolated or in the context of autoimmune polyendocrine syndrome (APS-1 or APS-2)
