- Psychosis is difficulties determining what is real and what is not real.
- The neurotransmitter dopamine is believed to play an important role.
An entity or a disease?
- I think it is an entity which has Impaired insight, Hallucination and Delusions as a sign.
- Most of psychotic patients has Hallucination / Delusions but it dose not means that Psychosis equals to them.
- Temporal Lobe epilepsy is a good example in which the patients have hallucinations, but they usually aware that their hallucinations are not real, so they are not categorized as psychotics.
- Hallucinatory disease is another example of patient who have only hallucination but not psychosis.
- On the other hand, it is possible to see some psychotic patient, who does not have Delusion.
