Clinic

  • About 15-20 percent of your office need this remedy.
  • Sign and symptoms are very Diverse / Numerous. Therefor you don't have to look for the typical picture in order to prescribe Sul.
  • Take it easy to give more Sul in your practice
  • Sul has most of symptoms. So it should be trained at the end of Materia Medica classes to review all remedies.
  • There are many common psychological types, but often Physical / General characteristics lead to prescribing rather than psychological characteristics.
  • Sul has many similarities with other polycrests that may be confused. Therefore, it is recommended to look at the characteristics of Sul in other remedies to find polycrest subsets in order to learn the network of Materia Medica. And this would be the miracle of WikiHomeopathy to use network facilities of Wiki in Homeopathy
  • If wrong prescription causes confusion in the body system, think about these remedies: Ip, Sep, Ars, Calc, Sul

Sul in brief

  • Persons of psoric temperament, nervous, quick tempered.
  • Dirty looking persons who are always speculating on religious or philosophical subjects.
  • Delusions, thinks rags beautiful things, that he is immensely wealthy.
  • Very selfish, no regard for others.
  • Mental fatigue and absent-mindedness.
  • Great desire for sweets.

Fever

  • Sul is not used as a first remedy infectious fevers such as Scarlet / Typhoid fever
  • Useful after Acon in continuous or Remittent fevers, esp when the patient is Dry / Hot and does not sweat. (Acon ₳ Sul)
  • Fever leading to typhoid fever. He is very sleepy. Tongue dryness + Redness of the sides and tips. Hot and dry fever .
  • Intermittent fevers + Sleepiness and Slowness (Similar to malaria). Its periodicity is very similar to Chin and Ars.
  • In fever, Sul is well connected with Ars and Bapt. (Bapt ₳ Sul), (Chin ₳ Sul)
  • Bapt is used in typhoid fever (Fever with gastrointestinal symptoms and headache), if it doesn't work, Sul is indicated. The patient's tongue is highly coated and herpetic rashes are seen on the center and corners of the tongue and on the teeth sides. Mouth and intestine secretions are very foul-smelling. The patient's look is Stunned and dumb and the patient's condition is critical infectious.
  • Ars, Sul and Acon are placed next to each other in inflammatory and advanced fevers. (Ars ₳ Sul)

Psychology

  • Sul does not have a deep psychological disorder. This means that the defense mechanism has not penetrated into the depths of his character, and therefore you see a simple character, so you are comfortable with him. Sul has little schema for seeking attention or acceptance
  1. A philosopher who is lost in himself and disorderly in appearance, chaotic conditions. He thinks that he is that lost philosopher.
  2. The warm-blooded type is similar to Phos, but all of them have a common feeling of being humiliated, which is soon compensated and turns into the feeling of "I'm fine, but no one has found me yet, and I've been robbed of my rights." If you ask him what is your problem, he will give you extensive descriptions and elaborate philosophy about his diseases.
  3. The market type, involved in market and money transactions, talkative, sociable, praises himself and is even a little nasty.

Core theme

  • Indifference to appearance: He abandons being sociable and does what he likes. The point is he does not care if that work is sociable or not.
  • Self-Centered: He is sloppy, but not because of stubbornness with society's standards (Caust anarchism). (Caust ₳ Sul)
  • Apathy: Lack of motivation (Sep) (Sep ₳ Sul)
  • Selfishness: Arrogant disregard for others (Plat's arrogance)
  • Opposition and belligerence (Lach belligerence)
  • Open-minded: Creativity, new attitudes, high theorizing, freedom of mind, strange and unusual thoughts
  • Unrestricted: Abandoning common conditioning has caused him not to adhere to moral principles, which can be harmful to many. In general, he is an easy person. Even when he has high egotism, because he does not consider himself subject to rules, he does not bind you and you are comfortable with him.
  • Egotism: He has completely personal theories. High ego center (individuality-centered) for this reason, people are not subservient. For them, their own benefit is more important than the benefit of the community. Of course, his benefit may not be material.

Clinical point

  • Diagnosing typical Sul is very easy, but diagnosing atypical Sul is one of the most difficult diagnoses.
  • Calc-s does not have a clear psychological indicator, it is mostly used in abscess or chronic infections.
  • Sul can be quite sociable, meaning it is not necessarily anti-social. He does not see the structures that he wants to oppose.

Calc-Lyc-Sul cycle

  • Sometimes we come across patients who are stuck between Calc and Sul or Lyc. They have characteristics between these three remedies and are included in this cycle. They don't go deep in any and move more in the Calc-Lyc-Sul cycle.
  • It is better to observe the cycle, but sometimes you can give Lyc directly after Sul. (Remove Calc)
  • Calc usually does not rise after Lyc. (Do not Remove Sul)
  • Sul usually does not rise after Calc. (Do not Remove Lyc)
  • In cases where you are stuck between Calc and Sul, give Sul first.

Reliable indicators

  • Plethoric (Warmth, Local Heat / Inflammation / Flushing, esp foot-soles) although it may be accompanied by a general cold, which is not a rejection. (Ferr)
  • Skin / Mucous membranes Inflammations/ Burning / Heat esp eyes.
  • General laziness
  • Agg at 11 A.M and 5-6 A.M
  • Weakness like diabetics: You feel that a plethoric and hyperemic person like him should not be so weak.
    • Note that Sul is a good remedy for diabetes, and it is even possible to continue treatment with Sul until the end.
  • Defecation in the morning on waking up. He may even wake up with urging.
  • Herpetic lesions of the face and body

Sul as intercurrent

Dynamic mood changes during treatment that guide the administration of Sul are
  • Troubled, Irritable and impatient + Tendency to anger and cry during treatment (Similar to Puls) (Puls ₳ Sul)
  • Patient become apathetic (like Sep) but feels warm or localized heat.
  • The symptoms have changed during the treatment, for example, has become hot or his sweat is increasing and its odor become offensive

Indications

  • Feeling ashamed, embarrassed or humiliated
  • After Financial failure, Great insult, Emotional/ Occupational collapse
  • After infectious diseases (Weakness during recovery) or Vaccine
  • Complications caused by suppressing skin lesions
  • Painful skin cracks behind the ears
  • Skin disorders after local application
  • Vitiligo

Primary psora

  • As you probably know, Hahnemann prescribe Sul for primary Psora in Chronic disease. What is the philosophy of this prescription?
  • Problems following the control of skin lesions, which is actually a kind of returning the patient to the original image or at least bringing him closer to the original state. Suppressing rashes has distanced the patient from the condition of internal cheek disease. Because a patient with a skin lesion cannot have internal problems at the same time. Therefore, Sul is the main remedy of Primary psora.
  • In fact, we don't have anything called externalization, and this is pushing the person towards the initial phases of the infection. It means the same phase when serious internal problems have not yet started.
  • It is interesting that Hahnemann came to the conclusion that if skin lesions are somehow created in a person, the person will be freed from a series of internal conflicts. He even tried to use woolen clothes to achieve this goal.
