Causes
- Overuse of the rotator cuff.
- Sports persons including tennis players, baseball players, and wrestlers who tend to use the rotator cuff excessively are at an increased risk of injury.
- Blow on the shoulder, fall on the ground, or an accident
- Older adults above the age of 40 years are also at increased risk.
Symptoms
- Shoulder pain and
- Decreased range of motion
- Tenderness on the affected shoulder joint is also present.
- Pain may get worse by putting the arm over the head or behind the back.
- Worsening of the shoulder pain at night time.
- Lying on the affected side also tends to exacerbate the pain.
- A clicking sound on moving the shoulder and weakening of the shoulder are some other symptoms.
