Clinic
- Salpingitis is an infection causing inflammation in the Fallopian tubes (also called salpinges).
- It is often included in the umbrella term of PID, along with endometritis, oophoritis, myometritis, parametritis, and peritonitis.
Signs / Symptoms
- Symptoms usually appear after a menstrual period including
- Leukorrhea: Abnormal Smell / Color / amount of vaginal discharge
- Fever, Nausea/ Vomiting, Bloating
- Frequent urination
- Pain during Ovulation / Menses / Sexual intercourse
- Pain on both sides of the abdomen and lower back.
Causes
Sexually transmitted disease (STD):
- N. gonorrhoeae
- Chlamydia trachomatis
- Mycoplasma
- Staphylococcus
- Streptococcus
