Clinic

• Many authors use the terms dermatitis and eczema synonymously
• Atopic dermatitis is also known as atopic eczema
• Dermatitis is inflammation of the skin typically characterized by itchiness
• Sign / Symptoms:
  • Redness of skin and a rash
  • Swelling, itching
  • Skin lesions with sometimes oozing and scarring
  • May be small blisters, which may end in skin thickness.

Types

• Atopic dermatitis: Dry, itchy, red skin
• Contact dermatitis
• Stasis dermatitis
• Dermatitis herpetiformis: Itching, Stinging , Burning sensation. Papules / Vesicles. Small red bumps are usually about 1 cm in size, red in color and may be found symmetrically grouped or distributed
• Seborrhoeic dermatitis: Appear gradually, from dry or greasy scaling of the scalp (dandruff) to scaling of facial areas. Sometimes itching, but without hair loss. In newborns, the condition causes a thick and yellowish scalp rash, often accompanied by a diaper rash. In severe cases, symptoms may appear along the hairline, behind the ears, on the eyebrows, on the bridge of the nose, around the nose, on the chest, and on the upper back

• Crusted
  • Moist herpetic rash
  • Yellow-brown with a red border
  • Dry, coarse scabby
  • Bleeds when scratched

• Rash may spread all over the body (Dulc ₳ Psor)
• Sensitive to touch (Scratching agg)

• Herpetic / Vesicular /Moist /Exudating rashes which leads to eczema

• Vesicular / Herpetic / Exudating eruption which leads to Eczema
• Small, crusty, dry and scaly rashes (Graph ₳ Petr)
• Eyelids Eczema: Cracked but moist rashes
• The edge of the eyelids is red and covered with dandruff and crust
• Oozing rashes: clear, watery and sticky secretions that scab over the rash
• Unhealthy/sensitive skin that easily infects with any trauma (Hep, Merc)
• Abscess and opening of old breast wounds
• Hands and palms

Rhus-t

• Contact Dermatitis: Burning, itching and vesicular rashes.

Second class remedies

• Tarent is the Remedy of choice for dry eczema that has not responded to Sul, Ars

Banerji protocol

	Eczema	Drug-induced / Contact Dermatitis
First line	Hep C200 one dose every two days Ars C200 BD, Can be increased in itching. Coff C200, in sever itching prevent sleep	Camph C200 + Ant-c C6 one dose every 3 hours alternately till relief
Second line	Graph C200 one dose every third days Ars C200 BD	Rhus-v C30 TDS, esp in Red rashes
Third line	Psor C1000 one dose every 15 days in acute infectious ulceration NS 6X BD	Nux-v C30 + Rhus-v C30 one dose every 3 hours alternately Ant-c C6 BD is rash
