Classification
According to DSM-5, published on May 18, 2013, there are following types of mood disorders:
- Depressive disorders
- Bipolar disorders
- Substance-induced mood disorders
- Mood disorders due to another medical condition

Anac
- Fixed ideas
- Hallucinations; thinks he is possessed of two persons or wills.
- Malicious / Suspicious: Anxiety when walking, as if pursued.
- Depression + Hypochondriasis + Abusive
- Brain-fag. Impaired memory. Absent mindedness.
- Easily offended
- Lack of confidence in himself or others
- Clairvoyant, hears voices far away or of the dead.
- Dyspepsia: Empty feeling in stomach. Eructation, nausea, vomiting. Eating relieves him
- Choking when eating or drinking. Swallows food and drinks hastily.
Aur
- Feeling of worthlessness + Self-Reproaching
- Depression + Hypertension + As if heart stopped beating for 2 or 3 seconds, immediately followed by a tumultuous rebound
- Epigastrium / stomach Sinking / Swelling / Hot eructation / Burning
- Depression + Palpitation + Rapid / Feeble / Irregular Pulse
- Disgust of life and thoughts of suicide.
- Talks of committing suicide + Great fear of death.
- Intolerance of least contradiction. Anthropophobia.
- Mental derangements. Cannot do things fast enough.
- Constant rapid questioning without waiting for reply.
- Over sensitiveness (Staph) to noise, excitement, confusion.
- Appetite / Thirst increased + Qualmishness
Ars
- Tendency to self mutilation
- Rush of blood to the head in melancholic states
- Feeling of Worthlessness / Despair
- Memory is weakness
- Anger / Irritability
- Fear of Death/ Being alone / Being injured
Bell
- Intellectual disability
- Amorous mania + Sexual excitement + Crazy Happiness
- Senseless talk + Staring / Protruding eyes
- Rage without any cause. Irritable curses horrible
- Wants to touch everything and everyone
- Depression /Indifference + Wants to drawn himself, or that somebody else should kill him
Hyos
- Patient acts Silly and Idiotic
- Lascivious / Lewd / Nymphomania: Throws the bed-clothes off and makes lewd and ridiculous gestures.
- Bad effects of extreme jealousy, fright, disappointed love, etc.
- Depression + Debility / Prostration
Ign
- Sensitiveness of feeling, delicate conscientiousness.
- Fearful/ Timid / Irresolute / Anxious
- Intolerance of Noise / Contradiction
- Taciturn + Continuous sad thoughts + Serious depression + Moaning
- Anger followed by silent grief
- Introverted / Silent grief + Great tenderness
- Changeable Mood / Act: Jesting and laughing, changing to sadness weeping
Kali-br
- Profound, melancholic delusions
- Immoral
- Religious depression: Imagines he is singled out as an object of divine wrath.
- Delusions of conspiracies against him.
- Must do something-move about; gets fidgety esp hand restlessness
- Fear of being poisoned.
- Amnesic aphasia: can pronounce any word told, but cannot speak otherwise.
- Night terrors. Horrid illusions. Active delirium.
- General failure of mental power, loss of memory + Depression
- Anesthesia of the mucous membranes esp eyes, throat, and skin
- Acne
- Loss of Libido / Impotency
Nat-m
- Psychic causes of disease; ill effects of grief, fright, anger, etc.
- Depressed, particularly in chronic diseases. Consolation aggravates.
- Irritable; gets into a passion about trifles. Awkward, hasty.
- Wants to be alone to cry. Apprehension for the future.
- Hypochondriacal, tired of life. Joyless, indifferent, taciturn. Hurriedness.
- Passionate vehemence ; gets angry at trifles. Difficulty of thinking ; absence of mind, weak memory.
Alum
- Slowness, Paralyzed depression in elderly people

Symptoms of Mood Disorders
- Sense of well being evident as elation or ecstasy
- Confidence and self-esteem are high
- Grandiose ideas without any substance.
- Thoughtless and risky behavior
- Thoughts come rapidly
- Speech is fast
- Physical activity is increased
- Appetite is initially increased but may be decreased later.
- Sleep hours are reduced, but this does not cause fatigue.
- Promiscuity may occur.
